Lisa, born in Northampton, Massachusetts, moved to Maryland in 2000. She first started in the title business in 2001 at Pinnacle Title in Rockville as a receptionist, a job she was offered when she was at the Cheesecake Factory applying for a job. After moving to the eastern shore in 2003, she was hired by Dudley Dixon, Sr. at Settlement Express in Chester, where Dudley told her that she would be great at settlements. After the initial fear of the unknown and learning that it is okay to say: “Gee, that’s a great question, let me find out for you”, she discovered that she had fallen into the most perfect job that she could imagine. Lisa was so grateful for Dudley giving her this amazing opportunity!! In 2008, she made the tough decision to take on a more challenging position at Homeland Title, where she found a place she could call her “work home”. Being a people person, Lisa’s favorite part of being a settlement officer is the people she comes across along the way to the closing. Meeting new people every day and developing relationships gives her great satisfaction and enjoyment. During her career, she has worked with numerous repeat clients and gained many friendships along the way.
Lisa prides herself with providing “exceptional, personal service – always” and making every settlement as smooth as possible. Her clients know that they can reach her any time, including nights and weekends. She has lived in and loved Queen Anne’s County since she moved there in 2003. She has volunteered at her local fire department and at Haven Ministries, the homeless shelter at her church. She has been involved with many organizations including Character Counts, Queen Anne’s County Chamber of Commerce, Chesapeake Women’s Network, Bay Area Association of Realtors and the National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association.
Lisa enjoys handling all types of closings and has a special passion for reverse mortgages, which help seniors stay in their homes. She has a deep understanding of reverse mortgages, enabling her to explain any concerns that may arise. Sometimes the borrowers are thrilled to get a reverse mortgage and other times it can be difficult for them, so understanding their mindset is super important.
She is determined to ensure her clients understand the entire closing process. Lisa prides herself as a title “geek” and communicates all aspects of the settlement in a way that suits her clients – some of whom are serious, others are lighthearted. She is excited to take on any challenge, solve any problem, and always willing to learn new things along the way. The only thing that stays the same is change – and she loves it!
The most recent change being a merger of Homeland Title with Capitol Title. She looks forward to the new challenges and opportunities!
On a personal note: Lisa loves spending time at home (after work—of course) with Andy and Nikki, at their new home in Queenstown, and feels very blessed.
